OK this is going to sound a bit lame or stupid but how was the original 1977 dry bath faucet set up? Did the hose for the shower wand [head?] come off the back middle of the tap assembly or was it separate?

The reason i ask is on my Hughes the hose comes out from the middle of the tap set, sort of at the back, and in the middle of the faucet is a diverter which of course appears to be seized.....now the questions:

1- how was it supposed to work...i know i know but it looks like you rotate it and it has an arrow on it that i assume when pointed forward means taps....remember i said it was seized.

2- now are their service parts for these things still or do i just need to replace the tap set?
