I am having am ongoing problem with my original oven door. The right hinge
went hinky and though I can sometimes coax it kind of back into place, as
soon as it is opened again, it is out of wack, preventing it from closing.
Yeah, I know this is sort of an unclear description, but does anyone know
how to correctly fix this problem? Hate to discard a unit that is otherwise
working.

Hi Faye
I suspect that you have a loose bolt. If you remove the inner panel you can get to the hinge and see what is wrong. If you can’t fix it let me know. I might be ably to find a door for you.

Emory,
How does that inner panel remove? Is it just the one side and can it be
done with the range in the coach or should I remove the unit for easier
access?

I don’t have an oven like that anymore. Replaced with a microwave and top burners.
If I recall the door had an inner panel and an outer panel with a stainless channel around the outside.
There must be screws holding it together. You might have to take the dot off to get it apart.

Faye, I just looked at my 77 with original stove/oven. There are four screws, 2 top and 2 bottom on edge of the door. Removal of those should allow removal of the outer door panel and give access to the door part of the hinges. If the trouble is not on the door, the whole unit may need to come out.

Ok, so I finally had a chance to look at the oven problem again. From what
I can determine, after looking online for help also, is that the spring
that holds the upper hinge bar into the side of the main body is no longer
attached. Has anyone ever played with this problem? Without removing the
unit, I can't seem to find a way to get to that spring.

I think it will need to come out. From what I remember, (it has been a long time) to get it out, raise the top panel, which hinges on the outboard side. Pull up pretty strongly on the inboard edge, it's a spring clip. That allows you to disconnect the gas. Then there are a couple of screws on each side (fore & aft) that go into the countertop. Then slide the unit inboard to remove. It may not need to come all the way out to access the hinges.

There are screws around the unit that is easy to get to so sliding it out
is not a issue . Duscinne ct the LPG line
