Some curious and ingenious GMC'er will likely replace the two rearmost drums with in-wheel electric motors and load up some lithium batteries under the bed, sofas, or replace the Onan. These motors could boost motive force (double?) significantly and offer braking. The batteries could be tapped for house electricity with a vast reserve when charged. Charging from shore power, generator (may need to update to a 220v generator or motor attached generator?), or regen from braking are all possibilities.

The mid wheel brakes could remain as well as the standard drivetrain. This would be so cool, but likely a $50k hobby project. Take a look at this in-wheel electric motor write up. These may be used in the new Lordstown Motors trucks that are being readied for market from the old GM plant.
