All,

Does anyone know how GMC matched items numbers in their assembly manuals to actual products? As two examples page 14B sheet 1 states "Apply 0190 Sealer in each Exterior Body Seam. No more than 8 liquid oz. should be used per vehicle" and page 14B sheet 6 shows view T states "Apply 0090 Sealer at upper & lower rear edge of "A" pillar before installing "A" window.Seal must close opening between Fence line "A" Window Frame." The copy of the assembly manual I have is very poor on the pages that list the item numbers following the images. It would be a great help to all of us if we knew exactly what the original sealers used were and what their modern equivalent are without having to guess.

Rich,

My go-to products are all 3M. I've never found a bad product, just seen faulty application (poor prep) or using the wrong product.

Here's 3M's product selection chart:

Their YouTube videos are plentiful and very helpful.

When in doubt, just call 3M tech support and they'll help you select the right product. From there you can do an interchange for other manufacturers.
