I spoke with Manny a few or several months ago asking about if he had any notes on rebuilding transmissions, maybe from a seminar he'd given. He said that Armand Minnie had taken video of a 2 day rebuild seminar that he'd done at a Western States and to give Armand a call.

Unfortunately, Armand said he'd lost a lot of info in a computer crash and couldn't find the video, but he had sent discs to a couple of people. He only recalled one person'a name, contacted him and they couldn't locate the disc.

That information should certainly be in Billy Massey's trove of information for all GMCers' benefit.

Does anyone have a copy of that video or know someone who might? Any leads at all would be appreciated. Thanks!

Richard

Any luck yet Richard? I didn't know this video existed. This would be a resource and a treasure. Manny has always been great to share his knowledge but I have more than once wished there was a "425 build book" of his best practices. I hope someone comes out of the woodwork with the video. If not maybe we should make another.

Ty,
Manny does lot better rebuild as he replaces parts that no longer is
available.
There are lot of people that can rebuild by using a basic kit.
Manny utilizes lot mor and that is why if his trans go 3,000 miles, it will
go 60,000-100,000 miles if you change the fluid.
I have supplied rebuilt trans from other GmcShop and ended getting burned.
Being out in the West, we encounter lot mor elevations .

Years ago Manny gave a two day seminar at a GMCWS rally. I believe it was filmed. I don’t know who might have the video but it probably stir exists.. I don’t see it on the GMCES internet site.

I have been in Manny's shop a number of times, and have had the priveledge
of watching him build up 3 transmissions at the same time. He is like a
whirlwind moving from one transmission to the next one repeating the
assembly steps on each unit. He has spent many years collecting the
components that only he has. He even has some parts manufactured to his
specs. He absolutely hates to be interrupted while he is working. I just
stand back, and shut up and watch.
Don't know if he makes any profit out of his work, but, that is not
the object. The object is to keep these old coaches on the road.
I have a friend here in Salem who has a transmission shop. He charges
at least 12 or 14 hundred dollars to do a TM425. But, he has a family,
home, business, hot rods, and other expenses. He doesn't work for charity,
he has to make a profit.
Reality sucks.

Any luck yet Richard? I didn't know this video existed. This would be a resource and a treasure. Manny has always been great to share his knowledge but I have more than once wished there was a "425 build book" of his best practices. I hope someone comes out of the woodwork with the video. TY*,

Well the woodwork denizens were not forthcoming, so I contacted Billy Massey, and he found copies! There's one on its way to him now and he'll post it in his trove. Very very pleased!

Emery, I had looked on the Western States web site prior to posting and was surprised to not find it there with the rest of the seminar presentations. Billy told me that Armand had been selling the discs, which explains the scarcity.

Billy does this stuff out of the kindness of his heart. If you download a copy of the video - a very big file - it would be a _really_ good time to make a donation to help support his web site and efforts.

Chalk one up in the win column for the GMC community!

Richard

* TY, I capitalized both letters because it just looks better. More presidential. Hint, hint. 😉
