Looking for some suggestions. My wife and I along with another couple are planning on going to the Kentucky Derby this year. (1st timers)
It's looking like camping options are now very limited in or near Louisville. We do not have a TOAD and would have preferred to be close enough to Uber there, but I cant find anything available that's reasonable. (Don't want to spend $700 for the party lot next to Churchill Downs) My other thought is to pick up a rental along the way, maybe Indy area, and stay at a campground outside of Louisville. Our time is limited to two travel days and two days in Louisville area. -4 letter W-word getting in the way again!!
Does anyone here have any suggestions for me on either camping or the Derby in general?
feel free to PM me if you prefer.
Thank You!

Ken

I'd contact J.R. Slaten (check the GMCMI Roster) for suggestions -- he's
lived there "forever" so should have some.

Wow! Is that just for the derby? For the Street Rod Natuonals at the Kentucky Expo Center, it was only $75.

I was born and raised near Louisville, live just across the Ohio River now. How about Charlestown State Park? It's 15-20 mins from downtown Louisville, has full hookups, and a Jay-C, Kroger and Meijer grocery all within 10 miles - the JayC, a MCDonalds and a Taco Bell are maybe 3 miles max from the park.

$30 bucks a night. You should easily be able to get an uber to the track, but it will be a 20-30 min ride with traffic

I was looking at Charleston state Park on line last night. That looks like a good option. Thank you for the recommendation.
