Just wondering if this issue could be a power steering pump problem (low pressure or low volume)
When I turn the steering wheel I can "feel" the valves in the steering box open, but I need to turn the wheel more before the tires start to move. It does not matter if I'm stopped or rolling down the road. It kinda feels / acts like the hydro-static steering on my tractor.
Background: Several years ago (maybe 2016), over the winter I rebuilt my leaking power steering pump and got a rebuilt steering box from Dave Lenzi. That box had issues but in the meantime DaveL got sick so I just put-up with that issue. After DaveL recovered I showed him the issue at a Rally and he agreed, so last summer I got a replacement steering box from him.
Now that Dave's wife is ill, I don't want to bother him with this, so I'm asking here first.
I'm wondering if there is low PS pump pressure or volume causing this issue. I do have a dual pulley system, so there is not a full wrap of the belt on the PS pump. I tightened the belts, but it didn't help. So I tried a make-shift strobe flashing on the pulley and it didn't seem like the it is slipping. I never have any belt squeal, nor any noise from the pump. I can't see any foaming in the fluid so I assume there is no air in the system.
I have KenH's electric wiper so no issues with the OEM hydraulic wiper causing problems. I also replaced the high and low pressure hoses when I rebuilt the pump.
The pump rebuild was pretty straight forward, but I could have messed something up. If I need to replace the pump, I think I'll just get a rebuilt unit rather than a rebuild kit.

Bruce,
Out of curiosity, did you remove the small o rings where the plastic plugs go on the steering box when you received it from Dave? They are easy to miss, ask me how I know!! If they are not removed when the steering box is installed, they will plug up the internals and make it hard to turn the wheels.
By the way, Mary's treatments were successful, and they are back in Michigan!!

Scott , that is great news that Mary was able to receive good treatment as
I heard it was very rare and went to few and finally found one.

I would definitely call Dave. I didn't see my o rings either!! But they are there. They are in the plugs where the power steering lines go to the gear box. Since I did not see them, or know they were there, I just remover the plastic plugs and installed the P/S hoses(big mistake!!). The o rings traveled through the steering box and clogged a screen or filter in the box.......I drove a year like that before I finally figured it out.....it drove terrible, I was on the verge of selling it!! But after talking with Dave, he figured it out for me. Got a new box, and back to steering like it's suppose to!! I'm so glad I didn't sell the coach!!
