No, not interesting at all. More like juvenile behavior. Totally uncalled
for. Would love to see it cease and desist.

Dont know the back ground behind this and frankly dont want to know....just thought it interesting that someone had a set of bags for sale for a system that seems to be used but not mentioned much.

Rich,

Leigh Harrison, now deceased, designed and sold the 4-bag system for many
years; I installed mine at Jim Bounds' insistence in '98 or '99. There was
one significant shortcoming to the system: It decreased the adjustment
range of the suspension. Not enough that it's ever bothered me, but some
it did. It also required more air pressure than the OEM system.

A few years later, Jim B. was building a "car hauler" which was going to
need more load carrying ability than the OEM or Harrison "4 Bag". So he
adopted a different system, originally designed by a well-known GMCer in
the mid-West whose name I can't recall at the moment. I think he bought
the rights to the design, and perhaps made some modifications before
beginning to produce and sell them, in cahoots with Jim K. Among the
improvements made in that design was thicker, sturdier, 2-piece (easier to
install & service) pedestals; bigger air bags; and, perhaps others I don't
recall. To distinguish the system, they named it "Quad Bag". It had a
large impact on Leigh's 4-bag sales and after his passing I don't think
anyone picked up production.

If you want more &/or more accurate information, you'll have to talk to Jim
B. or Jim K.

As for the 4 available bags, Bob D. acquired them in a parts trade and
never had a need for them. They're readily available in the truck market,
but not near his price.

Yes, Jim B contacted us to come up with a unit that could handle the weight
and more durable.
The late Ken Rose of San Antonio, TX Had been working on a design to
operate on lesser air pressure and still have the handling improvement of
the Harrison unit and full range of movement.
We purchased the rights and had Rick Flanagan Model the unit and made
several improvements and approved by Jim Bounds and distributed by Coop and

The "well-known GMCer" was the late Ken Rose in San Antonio, Texas. Jim
Kanomata bought the design, made improvements, and continues to market it as
the Quadra Bag System. This is the system that GMC should have provided to
begin with, along with the Rear Brake Drum Control Arm Kit.

I installed one of Leigh's 4 bag systems, out of his last runs, in my last GMC. He had made improvements over the life of his production runs. It worked extremely well for me, but did require about 110 air pressure for proper ride height. His system was used in the Buskirk Stretch's.
When he died, his estranged daughter only wanted $$$. A man named, "Rick", acquired most if not all of Leigh's stock, including a very nice GMC, 3 455's and a house+ full of parts. Unfortunately, Rick had a major heart attack shortly after moving the collection to his location. I have no knowledge of where or who has the GMC stuff now. Unfortunate planning.

Tom,

I installed Harrison's 4 bag system over 20 years ago and have only had to replace
the bags due to age. ... but have never had a problem. The Quatra Bag System was only
a future dream at the time.
