The fuel tank is getting hung up.
I think the lip on the tank goes against the frame rail, but every time I push or jack it up, the lip keeps going between the top of the frame rail and the floor of the coach.
It does not fit in this scenario. So I am doing something wrong.
Please explain the correct way to install the rear tank. I think there is padding on the top of the frame rail which is another reason to believe the tank lip doesn't go there.
I recall doing this 12 years ago without a problem, but I wasn't 80 then.
Thx, Michael Bozardt

Trick with the tank is to get the j bolts in the straps 1st. And put a thread or two of the nut on. Loose as possible.
Then lift it up and you should see the 3 bolts that go through the frame into the angle iron on the tank line right up.
Then tighten j-bolts last. But j-bolt has to be into the proper hole of strap when lifting. You cant install the jbolt into strap "after" it is up.

Yes, you have to keep that rear lip from tucking up under the frame cross member. When you have the tank tilted and J-bolt the rear end, it tends to get hooked on the frame. Leave it hanging loose on the J-bolts, then push up the front and get the 3 bolts in the angle iron, then tighten up the J-bolts. I used a floor jack in the pocket on the bottom of the tank to assist lifting. A helper is very helpful to run the jack.

I am in College Station Texas.
I know the J bolts must be connected first, however, when I lift the opposite side up, the lip on the tank goes between the frame rail top and the coach floor.
After that, the side that bolts to the frame(forward's side of tank) will not go into position as the lip is hitting something believed to be the pad on the frame between the frame and the coach floor.
Therefore I believe the tank lip should rest against the top of the frame rail, not on top of it.
coach floor is here
____ tank lip rests here
| should go here

What shape are your body pads??
The gas tanks should fall right into place. At least they have for me.

I think the problem is you have to much of an angle on the tank. Try putting it in more flat. Then just catch a few threads on the J-hooks, don't wrench it up too much or it'll pull the tank flange up behind the frame rail. Then pull the tank forward a little and lift it up the front to get the front three bolts in.
