Karen, all seems good with the parts. Have a little more than 5000 miles on them and steering is fine with no adverse effects.😀 Hal .

Karen,
I'll buy your OEM lower steering shaft assembly and CV joint; how much do you want for it?

Thanks Hal, that's terrific. I'm sick of trying to make the old floppy greasy heavy monstrosity work,
and no matter how hard I try, I can't get the lower pinch bolt to really grip. Even tried changing
the steering box recently hoping it would help but it made zero difference. I'm pretty sure now the
remaining sloppiness is in the intermediate shaft, and I'm done messing with it.
thanks,
Karen

Hello everybody.
I'm curious, after much time on the road, how everyone who made the Borgeson switch feel about it?
Any pros and cons?
Does the vibration damper matter?
Looking to do the same.
Thanks for your time.

I changed out to the Borgeson setup about two thousand miles ago and am very happy with it. The original shaft was so sloppy you would be pumping the steering wheel back and forth 4 inches to keep it on a straight road.
This new shaft works like a charm.
When you ask about a vibration damper, are you refering to the sliding shaft part? If so, the Borgeson has that.
Cheers.

After about 8000 miles with the Borgeson set up I have nothing but good things to say about it. Took me about 30 minutes to cut the shaft, as per instructions on the Borgeson site, (important), and assemble the unit on the bench, and about another 30 minutes to center the system and install. The toughest part of the job was removing the old unit!
The ease of accurately centering the steering system has to be one of the advantages of this system as well as no ongoing lubrication requirements. Although the D shaft is pre-lubed and has a seal on the sliding part,I did plug the exposed top of the D shaft with silicone to prevent water running down the inside of the shaft.

I’ve been running the Burgeson steering now for 2 seasons and it performs perfectly, just like it has on all the other car projects I’ve built. Easy to put together the pieces and probably a third of the GMC cost.

Parts arrived today and installed. Took me all of an hour.
WOW, what a difference!!
My old shaft was welded shut and I could feel every rock in the road. Not only that but getting it apart I broke a piece out of the velocity joint. Now it's incredibly smooth and almost a pleasure to drive. Need to find a local guy to get the whole rig aligned and I'll be set.
ROCK!!

25,000+ and happy but I used a double joint and heim joint support because of the longer later model pickup column I used.(not much original on my rig ) Hal
