Hey Gatsby;
Applied carries the old slick 50, actually called Bishop's Original. I use
it in everything, from airplanes to my generators. I get over 18 mpg at 75
mph on an Escalaide ESV. And it just keeps on ticking. I can also get you
some as I know John Bishop personally and keep it on my shelf.

Latest tests show in almost all cases, adding anything to oil degrades it's performance.

Oh boy, Emery. You are treading upon hallowed ground here! (Grin)
It is kinda like Ford vs Chevrolet discussions in today's world. They
both look like Camry's. Not a nickle's worth of difference anymore.
Gone are the days when a true P.T BARNUM type snake oil peddler could
gather hordes of believers at the footlights and take in the loot.
Something like TRUTH in advertising laws took all the "wonder and
amazement" away, and filled us with scepticism.
Then, there is stuff like Molybdenum Disulfide additives that have
proven benefits that get thrown into that same net.
And then, there is photoshopping. Seeings believing, right? (Very BIG
GRIN)

Original slick 50 did work.
When cash for clunkers came about they could not seize up the engines that had been treated.
Anything that will take money out of old oil seems to anger the oil tycoons.
Go figure.
Look up gas vaporization and the pogue carburetor.
The pogue carburetor is on display at Don Garlit's museum in Ocala Florida.

I’m curious to read the source for that claim - do you have a link?

No link, those always seem to disappear.
I talked to Bishops people in Australia thinking I would have to order the additive thru them.
They asked where I was from, and I told them Texas.
They said I was in luck because lubrilon in Texas makes the original slick 50.
I talked to the owner of lubrilon, he is a very interesting man.
I asked him about the government program to seize up the engines in the cash for clunkers, he chuckled and said it did give them a devil of a time.
While you guys are searching the internet, do some research on the pogue carburetor.
The info you find will blow your mind.
It is on display at Don Garlits drag racing museum in Ocalla Florida.
A pit crew member in nascar tried the same thing in 1986 on a Pontiac fiero that is in the museum.
But he could only get sixty something miles to a gallon with the impure fuel with all the additives.
He went to the epa with his "discovery".
The epa told him to go back to Daytona where he belonged.

That action was against the company that purchased the Slick 50 product from the original owner. The original owner had to sue them to stop using the original advertisements after they changed the formula to a lesser product. They took most of the SLICK out of it but sold it as the same product.
I know what the original SLICK 50 can do, I have used it on many vehicles, I watched the engine temperatures drop when running, easier starting, I never tried the running without oil, but some friends have.
I used to talk about SLICK 50 all the time. One fellow asked me about it and I must have been convincing because he bought it and put it in his car.
One day his wife comes home and says there is a light on in the dash. He asks what did the light say? She said Oil. How long was it on, he asked. She said for about 10 miles.
He goes out expecting the engine to be a brick, checked the dip stick and found no level. He added oil crossed his fingers and started it. It ran like always, was not affected by the no oil pressure for 10 miles.
Every vehicle I have put it in have lasted well over 200,000 miles, and were still running well when I sold them.
When the new owner of the Slick50 company changed the formula, the original owner changed the name and sold it as the real deal.
There are a lot of doubting Thomases out there but I know what Slick 50 did for me, repeatedly in each vehicle I put it in.
All of the ran smoother, dropped engine temperatures, started easier. I did see a mileage increase but most won't believe you if you tell
them so I won't push it.
This link talks about Lubrilon
