Well, I had a CV joint come apart at 65 mph on the freeway just before
Ventura California on the way to the SF Bay area. And goodness, does that
thing thrash around. Coasted down an exit ramp into a parking lot. Called a
friend who insisted on walking up the freeway to try to find one of the lost
steel balls. And found it across 3 lanes of traffic in the center divide.
Put that puppy back together using bolts borrowed from the other side to see
if we could get it to a shop. Had to get back on the freeway to get across a
river and yes, it moved. Being a Sunday, and no real shop in mind but trying
to get into Ventura, about 5 miles away, I kept moving. Found a sweet spot
about 30, and kept moving. Past Ventura, past Santa Barbara, past Santa
Maria until I got to the friends house in Nipomo. I was down to 5 mph or
less on the hills but kept it moving. The Lord takes care of fools and
children. And yes, sometimes the adventure is the trip, not the destination.

Thanks for sharing, Dean. Great story!
Think back. Have you had other similar experiences?
One of our other GMC friends had the steering wheel come off in his hands
on a gravel road on the way to Alaska. Survived the trip.
