6cuda6,
You found your way here and that is very good.
Before you do anything rash (like look at a coach) download print a copy of the GMC Assist list (named for Roger Black - the creator). Find it at:
<http://www.bdub.net/Black_List/>
Please notice that there are lots of dots in Canada. Carry it printed because that can always be read.
You can change the Alias if you choose, and if/when you acquire a coach, please fill in the sigfile we know who we are helping.
Even if you don't buy this one, you can keep looking and asking questions.
You have supplied very little information, but if you are in Ontario, and close to any crossing, you may want to try to get to the international convention that will be in Mansfield OH in Early October. Even if you don't yet own a coach. There are often some at the big rallies with signs on them. These are the ones you really want to look at.

Before driving it home, be sure to have insurance coverage.

Good Luck,
My wife Oki and I had a very similar adventure. The out come was Great!!! We sold our Airstream and never looked back. Drove it from Iowa back to Maryland without a hitch. Just completed Skyline drive and drove back on state road 11 so we could see every small town along the way. The Gmc's are outstanding for exploring both rural and urban environments.
I am getting the GMC ready for the next adventure (finger lakes and the grand canyon of the east, letchworth state park) and having a blast restoring and maintaining it. I'm Learning something new every day.
I wish for you and your wife to have all the same joy.
Take care,
Tom

Tom,
Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum....
I missed when you first arrived late last month so you did not get the regular greeting and special information I try to pass to all that arrive in our great and wonderful community.
A thing you should do as soon as you can is fill in a site sigfile. Do this by going to <Control Panel/Account Settings> and look for <Preferences>. If there is Plus there, click it. Then scroll down to the signature box. Fill that in with your name (we like to know who we are helping), a short about the coach including major mods (there are variations that can matter a lot) and a geographic reference because this is a supportive group and you probably already has a friend in striking range. That sigfile can show in all your posts. When done, be sure to scroll down and click <Update> or it will all be lost.
You will quickly discover that you coach is more than just a new big toy. I connects you to this community and that is a very valuable thing. This is community is a rare thing. Be very aware that we all (yours truly included) have a not-so-hidden agenda. That agenda is to see that you get to experience both what the coach can do for you and how pleasant this type of travel can be. We already know this and want you to experience it. The only other community I know of that is this supportive is that of the watermen that are my world. For this reason, I like to greet each new arrival much as a new member would be greeted there. So,
May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.
Welcome Tom and Oki

Rich & Tom & Rick - welcome to the family. The GMC is a lovely coach and I wouldn't consider anything else. I've had mine for 2 seasons now and this is the best place to be. The folks are great and the help & support you'll get here is unbelievable. Rich, if you can, definitely meet up with someone in the area that can come with you to see that coach (Mike & Rick ). They may even know of the coach and have some first hand information for you. When I was hunting, there were members that actually offered (and went) to view a couple of coaches for me, to see if it was worth my travelling all that distance to see it. I purchased my coach almost completely on the recommendation of a few people who knew the owner, knew the coach and it's history and had nothing but good things to say about both. I have not regretted it a minute. Their experience is priceless when you're looking at one of these old coaches. And after you bring her home as well; I am a regular contributor of questions. Not quite enough experience with her yet to be much help to anyone else, but no one seems to mind. (or if they do they haven't told me yet )
Joining your local chapter (or 2 if they are both within reasonable distance for you) is a great way to go in addition to this forum.
And Rick! My first trip (last summer) was from BC to Ontario, Ohio and back. Met some great GMCers along the way. Some people I knew thought that might be pushing the envelope a wee bit. Ladysmith to NS?! In 7 days! That's confidence! Fun wasn't it?!
Enjoy!

Well gotta say we pulled it off....1500km later the Hughes 2600 is home. Little hick up with the house battery over charging and the motor one not being charged at all. Good thing im a mechanic by trade and brought tools as we swapped the batteries back and forth once they started to boil.
So 2 things to sort out so far....over charging/no charging and a leaking air compressor but not the valves to the bags or the bags.
Other minor stuff but ill go threw all the electrical etc....
Overall was a hoot!! 55 to 65mph or 100 to 110kph all the way home except for the odd hill were we raced the trucks up at no less than 60kpm....lol.
