Ken, doesn't sound like you'll have time to visit the Golden Spike Tower at
Union Pacific's train yard in North Platte. Bob and I were impressed with
it when we visited last year. I believe you would find it very interesting.

You will have a wonderful trip. Our country is so beautiful. Have a safe
and serindipitous time of discovery.

900 miles in and GMC is performing awesome! Couldn't be happier!
Had a roof top ac fan relay act up giving me trouble last night. Didn't get to our campground and had to settle for a very HOT Walmart parking lot west of Omaha.
I80 across Nebraska was a cooker today (100 deg). So glad I installed vintage air!
Thank you Ken Henderson and Bob Dunahugh for reminding me to down shift on steep grades when speed gets to 45. Living in flat land (Iowa) it's easy to forget.
Half way to SanFrancisco! Hope to hit Salt Lake City area tomorrow night.

Ken, there's a beautiful city park in Scott's Bluff, reasonably priced, if
you need to stop anywhere near there.

We arrived back home in Iowa last night. What a great trip! I wanted to follow up to all that have offered advice , help, and prayers along the way. .... thank you!
Our adventure started at our home in Center Point Iowa and took us to California - AND BACK!
This was our first BIG trip so we didn't know really what to expect. One thing I did know was that we had an awesome support group here to guide us along the way.

My coach ran beautifully and we didn't have any major problems. Here are the challenges that we did face along the way. Some tranny slip on a big grade in Wyoming. After talking to Ken Henderson on he phone, I was reminded to down-shift into 2nd gear on up-grade when I reach 45mph. When I got to Cali, I took it to Manny for a few days and he replaced some burned clutches. It kind of sounds like this one was self-inflicted. I learned a lesson.

I had a remanufactured NAPA alternator fail 150 miles east of Salt Lake City. I simply started the generator and continued until I could get a replacement.
Later, on my way back home, the alternator gave up again. Thank God for the Onan!

Our two week, 12 state, 4600 mile adventure Safely ended last night when we arrived home late. Even with Vintage air running on high most of the trip along with Onan and rooftop air running 75% of the time, and average speed of 65-68 mph, we got 8 MPG. I was happy with that as well
