Thought you might enjoy seeing these car ads. Find your first car or the one you drove to high school or college. Hopefully your car brochure is available.
This has to be one of the neatest web sites regardless of whether you have gasoline in your veins.
This is a website featuring the original factory brochures for nearly every American car, plus lots of other ads/brochures [see 'Miscellaneous'].

My first car was a non-descript 1950 Chevrolet two-door business coupe with a tiny back seat but a monstrous trunk.
But my next one was a 1950 Ford convertible. This was my "courting" and marrying car with my wife of 58 years and counting! Had it from 1957 through 1961. This brochure even has the same "Sportsman Green" color as mine did. Search for it if you'd like to see it!

68 Camaro.. 9th grade in 1977. Worked on a dairy in Jr high school to pay for it. It was a low rider with the 6 cyl 250, so with that going against it, it only cost me $500.
Put in a few hundred dollars for some Clifford Industries engine performance parts, and then Tires. Dad got me a paint job. Would blow away a stock 327(but not by much).

'34 Ford, rumble seat, 5-window coupe, flat head Mercury engine, 3-speed
transmission, dark blue. Bought by Dad.
Replaced by a brand new '53 BelAire Chevy, baby blue with white stripe.
Bought by Dad.
Replaced by a brand new '55 Chevy 2-door hardtop V8, standard tranny,
black. I bought it.
Replaced by '57 Ford convertible V8 with 3-speed overdrive, super charged,
with continental kit, lowered, lake pipes and curb feelers, solid red with
white top.
Drove away from wedding in it. I bought it.
Replaced by...nothing you'd be interested in. We bought it. đ

My first car was '46 (or maybe '47) Fiat 500 "Topolino" ("Little Mouse")
(designed pre-war). It was CHEEP when I bought it in '51 or '52 ($50)
'cause the convertible top had already rotted away, and subsequently all
the upholstery. It wasn't running, but at 15, I thought I could do
anything. I DID get it running, and learned a lot about metric fasteners
in the process: If you tighten them JUST a little too much, they get loose
again! But I replaced the leaking head gasket and got to drive it up &
down in the back yard quite a lot. Finally, I convinced Daddy to let's use
it on our fishing trip to our favorite spot 26 miles away. That went well,
'till about 1/2 way home, when the engine started making funny noises.
When we checked the oil, it was GRAY! Which I didn't really understand,
but I had plenty of spare along, so we replaced the quart or two it held.
That didn't help the noise, so I took a screwdriver and removed the oil pan
(the 12"x 6", or so, engine hung right out front, forward of the radiator,
which worked by thermosiphon). Turned out one of the rod bearings was shot.
Drawing on his long before experience with T-models, Daddy rummaged around
in a roadside burn pile and found an old shoe. The tongue from that
trimmed out as a pretty good bearing insert -- for about 2 miles. Then we
caught the Trailways bus to town.
But I made a profit on the car: In those days, dragsters really liked Fiat
500 bodies for their cars 'cause they weighed nearly nothing -- I got $75
for it. Best % profit I've EVER made on a car! :-)
Sorry to be so long-winded; don't get me started on the '39 Olds
replacement!

Once tried to restart it with the crank in front of a convent in Omaha, NE where I grew up.
Success was met by a round of applause from a dozen nuns who had gathered to watch a high school boy start a car with a crank.
Iâd have one today but the GMC and my bride take all the spare change.
What a great ride though. All of it.

Geez, let me think.
1st. Model A Ford Coupe 1931. Burned engine compartment due to a home
made (whittled wood) pipe plug hammered into the firewall mounted sediment
bowl for the cowl mounted gas tank that vibrated out while the previous
owner was driving. Put out with dry chemical. I paid $15.00 for it. Brought
it home. Boy, was my mother mad. I was 14. Bought it with my Strawberry
picking money that was supposed to go for school clothes. You guys bought
your own school clothes, too didn't you?
Number 2. 1940 Pontiac 2 door sedan. Straight 8.
Number 3. 1934 Plymouth 4 door. Suicide doors. Flathead inline 6.
Number 4. 1948 Plymouth Torpedo body 2 door sedan. Blown up engine.
Helped by a Polish Sawmill owner, I swapped the 6 for a 1953 DeSoto
Firedome Hemi V-8. First hot rod. Been infected with that bug ever since.
Too many more cars to count since.

First car after the Triumph TR3 was a â47 Plymouth 2 seater coupe.
Blew the flathead engine from a plugged oil gallery due to my change to detergent oil. My girlfriends father/hired hand towed it to
the farm outside of Red Oak. Called me a week later and said it was fixed.
They had gotten a short block from Sears and installed it. Charged me $200. I thought that was a lot of money in 1967.
Still had it when I met my bride. Going on 51 years now, best $200 I ever spent.

Only thing uglier than a 600 FIAT is a Japanese copy of it. Kia, maybe,? I
have never worked on the new Fiat, but, I have worked on plenty of the 1st
generation of those knuckle busters. If you run into the dedicated owner of
one, it is like having a 401K in your shop. Permanent income.
