Hello all -

I know this has been brought up before, but it seems like things keep changing and I'm considering getting agreed value insurance rather than just full coverage. I read through the most recent posts I could find here and tried Safeco (formerly National Interstate) from Emery's recommendation; I inquired with a local Safeco agent and they wouldn't do it unless I considered moving over our home & auto. I also looked at Progressive and now it looks like their classic auto insurance redirects to Hagerty, which last time I checked wouldn't do motorhomes.

So I'm back to the drawing board and looking to see which agreed value insurance will cover our GMCs now.

Much appreciated!

I ended up going through Auto Owners Insurance.
Haven't used it (thankfully!) but they were OK with agreed value, and the premium is not bad.

I only have the motorhome with Safeco. It was booked through the Explorer insurance Agency.
I’ll have to look up the number and post it unless you find a previous post from me. Let me know.

I have agreed value thru the FMCA insurance which is Progressive.
Price is reasonable.
I have not had to use it so I cant tell you about how responsive they are.

We do Appraisal for lot of owners.
Not ever agent is allowed to do agreed value.
Only those with minimal claims.

Thank you everybody. I will continue to look at the ones you mentioned. I didn't realize that certain agencies can write these policies so that does help.

Emery I will look up the Explorer Insurance agency in OH, I saw it in one of your previous posts.

Auto Owners is also popular up here in Michigan and was mentioned by one of the agencies I talked to... who wanted to roll home & auto over as well. Personally I would prefer to keep the GMC on its own policy to allow more flexibility to shop around for home & auto insurance since the companies tend to hike rates annually.

Thanks again!!

I was doing the same, but ended up swapping all my auto to auto owners and saved a lot yearly over central who I was with before.

Auto-Owners does not write Agreed Value policies on motorhomes. You might want to check with your agent for clarification.

At this point I must advise you NOT to use Safeco. I had to be towed in recently and the tow bill was $2225. Safeco’s policy says I would be towed to the nearest qualified facility.
The $300 they offered me for towing would cover approx. 40 miles. There wasn’t even a city within 40 miles. I am arguing with them right now about that.

I called the insurance broker that I had used for years, Explorer RV in Ohio and I had a hard time getting through. I finally spoke to a woman and she told me that she was the only one answering a phone there. They no longer have agents and are not arranging RV policies any longer. They just refer people to Safeco.
Unless this get resolved to my satisfaction I will plan on finding another company for my insurance. The problem is that it is getting harder to find a company that will do agreed value.

I thought Grundy was advertising coverage for vintage automobiles as well as RVs. Haven't contacted them as of yet, but may be an avenue to pursue.

I do several Independent Appraisals for GMC MH owners and assist in finding
agents that can do Agreed Value coverage.
I know from what I have been seeing, that there are few that are given the
PRIVILEGE of writing these.
I say this as , as when I was a Zone Service Mgr at Ford Motor Co, there
were couple dealers that I had allowed to use their judgement on extending
Warranty without my approval. It was based on their Low warranty claims and
Honesty.
Other dealers had to fight with me to even get any small claims done.
I see some of this same thing in the insurance business.
If you think 10-15K value is enough, than you better think again as small
damage will exceed to where they will SALVAGE you coach and you will find
it impossible to sell it later.
I have a lot full of salvaged coaches that were given to us as no one would
buy them.
I have had few that received FULL agreed value as they had our Independent
Appraisal.
