Changed the module and away we went. Yesterday we took the coach out for a run and after about 7 miles it just shut off. I had a new spare module and replaced it and still would not start. Lots of gas but no spark. Could it be the HEI coil in the distributor cap or possibly the pickup coil. Any thoughts. Can I source both those items locally or are they specific to your red HEI distibutor.

Gary,
For my personal coach, I have my guys install DELCO ignition parts only.
For our shop we use the higher priced parts as they are reliable. There are
two grades on ignition parts from what our part man Gary tell me.

I completely agree with Delco parts, Jim. I have found that some aftermarket coils come with slightly different length screws. If the screws are a little longer they may cause a crack in the cap. The crack may not occur immediately....Some distance down the road you're again diagnosing an ignition problem! JohnS

John,
One time after a new coil, the engine ran like crap.
Took me some time to finger it out.
Anther one is with my Cad engine, I wired it up same as Olds and it back
fired out of both ends and couldn't finger it out till I stopped to think
after 6:00 and realized that I was using the Olds firing order.
Also the numbering on the cylinders is opposite.
