We got dumped on by a big/long rain storm last night. The general thought that I had heard. Was that the joint at the aluminum extrusion on each side of the roof panel. Very seldom leaks. Last fall I cleaned that joint with my power washer. Yes. I did get some water inside. But the dirt got washed out. Let it dry for a few days. Then very carefully pushed a small bead of a good clear silicone calk down into that joint. Next I removed any calk that wasn't down in that joint. You'd never see that calk joint. ( Hate messy calk jobs.)
Many aluminum pop rivets have a steel center. They can rust/leak. Even with an aluminum center. They can leak. I next filled the center of each, and every pop rivet on that roof. Again removed ALL excess calk. And yes. It took a lot of time to do this well. But now after that storm last night. Now I'm sure that the new owners will stay dry all night. Bob Dunahugh
