I was informed a few minutes ago that Alex Sirum passed away at about 3 this afternoon from a long illness. More info to follow.

Thanks for the details - now we know what we are dealing with. So very sorry to hear this - he was a Gr8 asset to the GMCers. Our prayers are now for the family and close friends who must deal with the sad consequences.
May He Rest In Peace!

That IS sad news. Prayers for the family. Alex gave me an "Alex Sirum GMC" mug at the GMCMI in Pueblo nine years ago or so. Great guy and a real asset lost.

I'm glad Grace and I went down and visited Alex and Ramona at the hospital.
Was total shock as he got out of bed and greeted us and Jeff advised me
that Alex was doing so well that he would be going home.

Definitely a tough loss. Over my almost 12 years of coach ownership I've spent many hours at Sirum's. When I first got the coach we were out there almost every weekend while Jeff and his guys did major stuff and I puttered around doing minor things. Having Alex come in around lunch and sit down and chat for a while was always a pleasure. It was even more of a pleasure when he would wander into the shop, watch what I was doing, and then tell me how to do it correctly!

After we moved to Alabama I have pretty much always visited Sirum's during our annual trip to the in-laws at Thanksgiving and most years had a punch list for Jeff, a punch list for me, and time for a chat when Alex would stop by. A true gentleman, friend of the community, and great guy. He will be greatly missed. Condolences and thoughts from my family to the Sirums and all who knew Alex.

Thanks,

He was indeed a good fellow, and always had a solution to a problem,
especially a GMC :)
