I have been a member and have enjoyed this forum immensely. I helped my son a few years ago purchase a Toyota Rav4 that had 200,000 miles on it but purred like a kitten. He started having warning lights come on in the dash and Sunday (his birthday) he drove home for lunch etc and have our mechanic take a look at it as we thought it was a vacuum hose or something minor. Almost home, it simply died and had it towed to mechanic and it appeared to be the water pump. Replaced it but too late, cracked block engine shot. Anyway I am wondering if anyone knows of someone selling a good rebuilt engine. 2007 Toyota Rav4 Sport 4WD 3.5 liter 2GR-FE (whatever that means) or if someone could steer me to a reliable one

At one time, it was mentioned that in Japan, vehicles and their parts have a specified "age-out" life and must be scrapped at that point, regardless of condition. There WAS a big market to sell low mileage engines and transmissions to a US distributor for resale as replacements. I don't have any idea as to where to find such. Perhaps a non-dealer Toyota specialist shop would know how/where.

USA is a large distance, why don't you tell us where you live.
The story of aging out in Japan can be true, but my source tell me that
they are very strict about cars that get into wrecks so they scrap out lot.
I know a Japanese lady in CA that I have delte with that get them from
Japan, not from a local junk yard.
