I did this with a new Subject: Line to connect the subject to the body of the email. It is bad to hijack the subject line by changing and type about a different subject.
I am with most everyone on wiring materials. Copper YEA and aluminum is BOO. I too have had bad experience with aluminum conductors failing. In the late 70’s I built a new house in Baton Rouge, LA when I was transferred by Dow Chemical. Code at that time allowed the use of aluminum conductors in underground cabling from the transformer to the meter. About a year an a half the wife noticed that her stove was not working correctly, The burner on one side would not work and when she turned on another burner on the other side both would work, same with half the house was powered and than the other side had power. Fortunately the wire from the transformer to the meter was there’s and they had to replace the wiring because the cabling insulation had been nicked several times and one leg of the 220 vac had turned to powder inside the insulation and failed. Happened to my neighbor about 6 months later. The installation of aluminum wiring required a special paste for dissimilar metals joints such as the copper to aluminum junctions. The NEC code was changed on aluminum wiring in residential construction in the 70’s.
The wiring used for the GMC 120 VAC circuits was a 12/2 with ground. If was fairly durable as long as it was installed correctly. Most time the wiring was installed first and then spray foamed to prevent in from moving in the bulkheads area it passed thru. I am doing a restoration on a 75 GMC Avion model and I will be replacing all the 12/2 wiring with a Triples type cable. This is available from such sources such as West Marine and other companies out there, Just do a google search or look on ebay. Granted it is much expensive, but resolves many issues.
