Out in the wide open spaces of the west there are places parts may be hard to find . I always carry spare parts that can be easily changed on the side of the road it is no fun to be broke down and many miles from a parts house when all you need i is something simple like a coil or an ignition module.

What to do always comes down to YOUR comfort zone. First. Has the cam sprocket been changed? Don't leave town with that original cam gear. Do a compression test. I'd never take an extra starter. As they're heavy. Simple to pull. Take it to a local rebuilder. Don't do an exchange at the national parts store. Do the general maintenance items. Get a Digi panel from Jim K at Applied. This is a start. Bob Dunahugh 78 Royale

There's a thought to carry lots of new spare parts. I carry that one step farther. I carry every spare part that you could ever need to replace. I just carry them installed. That way I put them on at home. Not on the side of the road. I carry no spare parts at all. Bob Dunahugh 78 Royale
