I would add one more thing to this discussion.
If you plan on keeping the GMC forever, aesthetics are only important for you, your family and your neighbors who have to look at it. But, if you ever decide to sell it, aesthetics can be the deal breaker/maker as most of today’s buyers look first at the condition of the exterior, then the condition of the interior and only if those two pass muster, the mechanical condition.
A common response on this forum is something like I don’t care what it looks like as long as it is safe and reliable. Unfortunately for many who start down that path the aesthetics play a much greater role for your family and neighbors than you might imagine so consider this question carefully before you plunge into the joys and tribulations of GMC ownership. It is way cheaper to redo all the mechanical stuff than it is to redo the exterior and interior appearance.
Welcome to the world of GMC owners! You will find many here who will become life long friends. We all look forward to meeting you in person somewhere along the way.
