 Ok, I admit, dangerous ideas always happen when I sit idle waiting for the Super Bowel to start. Ok, the beer might not help either. But here is what I have. Few years back I was thrift shopping and ran across a store that collected fabric remnants from fabric stores thst they had left over snd the sell them st a ridiculous price reduction. So I got some really cool sumbrells fabric at near nothing cost. 30 bucks for all the fabric. It really came out looking pretty cool. I have full length awning on both sides of the camper.
Gives great shade but in a rain storm it dosn't keep the rain out. So what I was thinking to do is cost it with a clear acrylic or ruberized paint to water proof it and if all posdible improve the tensil strength of the fabric becouse now when the fabric gets wet, it stretches a little amd allows water to puddle up which as you imagine gets worse and worse as it rains till I take a broom to push the water off. Anyhow, was hoping there was something I could use before I go buy a awning fabric replacement for both awnings.

They create a taut, arched fabric which should shed water much better, and
eliminate pockets for the water to collect in. The WILL, over time,
permanently stretch the fabric (not enough to lose the adjustable tension),
causing it to wrinkle as it's rolled up.
I've had them on my awning ever since I installed the OmniStor, almost 12
years ago. They're easy to install and do a perfect job -- at low cost.
On my 23', I only need 2; a 26' Might need 3. I assume you only need
something for the patio side, not the driver's side.

I understand that you can spray the sunbrella 303 fabric guard, and it makes the awning shed water really well.

I use a little bar to hold up my zip dee at the door, and it sheds the water off and no longer pools when the awning is not tilted.

If you take time to notice the awning material on old Zip-Dees, you will
notice the addition of 1 or 2 brass grommets in the fabric about a foot
back from the outside edge of the awning. Ever wonder why they are there?
Why the heck would someone put grommets in such a strange location. Sit
under that awning when it is raining sometime, and you will figure it out.
They are drains for the water that accumulates in the slack material. They
work well, too. Probably a secondary purpose might be is to place a tent
pole to prop up the slack, but, that only moves the water further towards
the coach. Been there, tried that.

You must always lower one end to avoid pooling

Timely thread as I am deciding what do to with a Sunbrella cover that was included with my Royale...except the cover is big enough for a 36 foot square box pusher! Hoping to cut it down and have a cover and some awnings as well. Anyone else interested in working with Sunbrella, Sailrite has some great info on Youtube. The following link included some info on volume/coverage as well as application of the 303. I didn't know about the 303 at all until reading here, thanks everyone!

I agree with Jim on this... If rain is expected, I will raise one side all the way up, then leave the other down 2 notches... This also has the added benefit of allowing you to somewhat direct the water towards the front or back of the campsite...
Also agree that 303 fabric guard is a great product... As is their vinyl and rubber protectant....
