One of the first items that I remove from any GMC I ended up with. Is that very tall hydraulic jack. I see it as dangerous. But that opinion is open to each persons view. I just put them in the iron pile for recycling. I've found myself returning to that pile. Because I keep finding task that I can use them for. So now they live with the many other tools that I have. The three of us are happier now. ( GRIN ) Bob Dunahugh

Bob,

That tall jack is now one of my "handiest tools". With a vehicle on my
"service rack" (
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/new-service-rack-26amp-3b-drivetrain/p10327.html),
I still needed a way to lift its weight off of its wheels. So, I had a 3"
steel pipe pedestal, 24" or so high, welded perpendicular to an old GMC
16.5" steel wheel. A plate on top of that pedestal enabled me to bolt the
"tall jack" securely in position for raising a weight which is already 48"
above ground. My "VERY tall jack with a big base" works great & is VERY
steady & safe.

I used my tall jack to remove some fence posts.

Quality lasts. Wish my GMC had one of those when I bought it. My 40+ yr old Blackhawk bottle jack still works fine. My HF jacks not so good. One dead, one squishy and I haven't used the 12 ton yet.
