The PO put Kool Seal on the roof of the coach.
I’m looking at options to remove it.
Does anyone have experience with any of these drum style paint removers?
Eastwood Contour SCT “Surface Conditioning Tool”
Porter-Cable “Restorer”
Black and Decker “Multi Surface Restoration Tool”
All about the same. The Eastwood is a little larger, but the consumables are EXPENSIVE.
Of course, comparing them to a Angle Grinder with a 3M Clean-N-Strip disc (a.k.a. “Lava Pad”)
Thanks.

Google eternabond seam tape roofing. I have not used it on an rv but have
heard good reports from some I know who had. I also used it to seal
flashing on a cargo container turned storage shed and it worked very
nicely.

How did you seal up your roof before paint, Sully?

3m 08369 single part moisture curing seam sealer. It works well but is not
terribly easy to tool as it skins fast. I chose it because I wanted a
sealant that was direct to metal as well as paintable and forever flexible.
If I had known about Eternabond then I would likely have chosen it instead.
Way less $ and hassle.

Nope. I sprayed epoxy primer and let it cure overnight then I masked and
then spread it with a filler spreader then pulled the tape prior to
skinning over then went right into paint.

Dolph,
I have the Eastwood SCT unit that I got to remove the paint from an old VW Beetle (4 coats of paint!). I tested it on one spot and it stripped down to bare metal in mere seconds. The downside is that it is expensive ($199 unless you get it on sale). The drums are expensive (it only comes with the fine grit drum), and it is large, bulky, and it's heavy. However, it doesn't try to twist out of your grip like an angle grinder.

Dolf,
Is the coating still rubbery or hard and brittle?

I used EternaBond Tape in a bind. If i were to do it again, I would choose
the same, but 1" wide compared to 2". Mine looks beige like a long
band-aid. Not a huge fan of the look. Huge fan of the seal however.
