Well, here we are in beautiful downtown LaConner, Washington. About 100
miles north of Seattle in the fertile Skagit Valley. Primary crops are
tulips and daffodil bulbs. Snow geese winter over here. There are hundreds
of thousands of them. Beautiful low lying ground next to Puget sound.
Fields are quiet now. It is "laying by" time. Outside temperature this
morning is a whopping 25 degrees Fahrenheit. It will be bright sunny day
after the sun finally comes up at this latitude. Probably around 46° or so.
Highlights of this rally will be Christmas lights on the many small vessels
moored here in the yacht basin.
Easy access to the Straights of Jaun de Fuca and points north.
About 19 coaches are expected. Brave souls, all of them in this weather.
But, we use our coaches year round. Rain, cold, sun, we get together and
enjoy each others company. We are close enough to the international border
with Canada, that many of our Canadian members can attend. Food,
fellowship, and GMC's. Don't get much better than this. Hey, I am doing
well since my recent heart work. Driving 300 miles yesterday. All is good.
Jim Hupy, President, GMC CASCADERS.
