The occasional drip of oil from the ratrod turned into a quart every couple of hours.... traced today to a bad gasket under the oil filter remote adapter. Unlike the GMC one, this threads onto the filter mount until it's tight. I suspect where it was tight wasn't where the lines needed to come out so he backed it up about 30 degrees. At any rate, an abraded spot and a 'witness piece' of the seal which had been ground off. And the spot eventually failed and started a leak. The idea of lunching yet another mill, and a well built one in this case was/is anathema, so off it came. Took about five minutes to loosen and spin it off. Three and a half hours to get the lines off and get to it so it could be spun off. Such is the circumstance for engine swaps, I suspect there are places in the Cad 500 install which are just as problematical. Anyway, tomorrow it will get a new seal off the top of a filter since the Seal that was in it was too small anyhow. And, having done it should only take an hour or so to reassemble the thing, lower the jack, and rebolt the engine mounts. Which had to be unbolted and the engine jacked a few inches.

Anyhow, the ratrod toad should return to service tomorrow. Anybody want a screaming 88 Ranger? Or a drivetrain for pretty much anything Ford that will fit a 302. Boltup in a Mustang through a Crown Vic. 302, TrickFlow heads, Wieand HiRise, far out cam, Hedmanns, square bore Holley, T-5 close ratio, 8.8 no slip 3.7 differential, Traction Master bars on the axle, ten gallon safety fuel cell. 4 Large takes it home. New tyres on the front 3/4ths on the rear, cloned American Mag mag wheels.. Amaze your friends and make believers out of the kids with the ricemobiles with loud mufflers.

The option is a proper gas tank and I'll keep it and run it for hauling stuff. Or swap it for a pre-smog 7.3 International Diesel in an F-250.

Anyhow, I'm back to two toads to choose from Smile
