Bob,
Some years ago Bill Bramlett modified some latch pins by replacing the
original pin+rubber+visible surround with a solid steel pin. When I
finally got around to installing the one he gave me, it made a world of
difference in the door's closing. IIRC, JimK has taken over and has them
made for sale.
Last year, I removed, disassembled, cleaned and re-lubricated the latch. I
can now latch the door firmly with one finger.
While you're fooling with the latch, adjust the barrel nut in the interior
lock button's shaft to that location that prevents locking the door from
the outside without the key -- I seriously doubt you can get into the coach
through the cockpit window like Eric T. can.

We are very low on the Solid Machined and welded latch.
customers are not returnig the cores.
Maybe we need to charge more for core deposit.
Anyone that has them, we will pay for old ones.

Sully,
Yes, it is the striker stud.
We send out the part, then have them return the old part.

Sounds to me like this is one of the parts that needs to be salvaged off of
burned or wrecked coaches.
The mounting flange would not be difficult to fabricate and the stud is a
replacement anyway, but I suspect it’s cheaper to work from cores.
I replaced mine some years ago and it made all the difference. I also
replaced my latch with the usual Kenworth part, but the parts that wrap
around that stud are still old and something in there occasionally gets out
of whack. Checking all that out is a winter project.

We like to reuse the base with 4 champhered holes to avoid maching time.
Cost is something we watch as we have freight, paking and labor to equate
in.
