I ran across this YouTube video after the one showing the removal of engine from top side and out the door.
This is quite a neat video, even if the tow truck may have caused damage to the coach.
Since this apparently took place in the Dallas, TX area (tow truck from Plano, TX) I wonder if the owners are on this list. If so, I would like to communicate with them regarding the trailer haul company. I wish to possibly have my coach hauled to the Austin, TX area for an engine replacement from here in Oklahoma City. I would not need the wrecker services since my engine will run and coach could be driven onto the lowboy. Just don't trust it to make a trip!
Lowboy trailer is a Trail King.
Texas license plate on the coach is DTR-4703 if that might be an aid to locating the owner.

How to move a dead GMC motorhome onto a lowboy trailer
We finally managed to transport the GMC motorhome to the Co-Op in Orlando, FL where Jim Bounds and his crew will do a complete resto-mod. Photos are from The Co-Op in Orlando, FL.

Saw the results of a lowboy operator who used the rear hitch ball to load
motorhome up on flat bed.
Unfortunately the hitch snapped in half and motorhome went rolling forward.
Owner was in the drivers
seat and was able to stop coach.
Might be a blessing in disguise. Who knows if the hitch would have snapped
at some other time when
towing a toad.

WOW! Lo and behold, the Jim Bounds post for today shows the start of the process to put the coach in the YouTube video below back in A-1 shape!
Also, from somebody else's hint, I went back and found the comment about the company engaged to haul this coach from Texas to Orlando (Daily Express, Inc.)!
A Google search for the company showed that they are headquartered in Carlisle, PA.
HOWEVER, they have a total of 10 locations, including one here in Oklahoma City that turns out to be just three miles from my house! I stopped by after lunch today, and got an estimate for hauling my enfeebled coach to a possible repair location near Austin, TX (recommended by George Zhookoff). Estimate is around $1,250 for a 379 mile trip! Seems reasonable!
Next step is to contact George's friend near Austin to see if he is capable of (and willing to do) the job of engine and tranny changeout and at what cost. Then comes acquiring an engine (maybe from Bob Dunahugh's favorite rebuilder) and locating a 3.55 tranny and drive train.
After five years of ownership, I just might be actually able to get "The Money Pit" on the road and use it before I croak!

Mac,
You may not find this comment particularly helpful in regards to your current question, but I find it hard to believe that you can't find a shop in the Oklahoma City area that is capable of and willing to do the work.
It is pretty simple mechanics and a lot of do-it-yourselfers, including me, have done it. The transmission shares a lot of parts with a Turbo 400 and can be rebuilt by a competent shop (With some technical input from Manny) locally and the engine rebuild can probably be done locally as well. A final drive can be had from Jim K and you're all set.
Surely you have lived in Okie City long enough to have contacts in the auto repair business that can at least give you some names and a place to start. You can put the shipping money into the motorhome that way , plus deal with a local for any warranty work. Win Win.

We hauled 14 GMC motorhomes without incident, but my transporter was killed in a tractor accident at his home.
Since then, I only trust GMC hauling on a "Hauls All" trailer. It picks the coach up like the flat bed wreckers do.
The rear wheels move forward, the bed tilts down, they winch the coach up, lower the bed, move the rear wheels
to the rear, secure the coach and reverse to unload it. Piece of cake!
My guy is Jeff Weingart, owner of Gulf Coast Fleet Towing, 713-540-7778.
They haul all over the country so you may be able to get an empty return trip. Jeff will work with you to meet your need.
His is a good number to remember for all you other GMCers because you never know when or where you may need it.
