Hi All,

I am trying to identify the fabricator of a coach I saw on Saturday. This particular coach had a stretch of about 3 ½' behind the rear wheels in order to accommodate twin beds behind the usual passenger wet bath area.

If I understand correctly, Buskirk stretched the frame, so I imagine it's unlikely it's a Buskirk. Were the other companies that also focused on stretches, or is this coach possibly a one-off conversion?

Thanks,

-Dave

That seems like a lot of effort and expense for very little gain. I would think interior mods would have been a better option.

That type of stretch has been done many times and you are adding about 2’ after the seam between the body and the rear cap.

Here is a great photo album that show the process.

Just click on the thumbnails and the pictures will open up.

It is necessary to have some parts out of donor coach to easy the construction.

Thanks, JR. Were these stretches done just by individuals, or was there a coachbuilder who specialized in this method of stretch?

Each stretch was done by its owner. Information was passes around and there was a kit. I would guess that the number done is 6 or less. Picture album is basically on how it’s done. In the album the pictures enlarge.

I have the 76 Glenbrook 28’ stretch (We named her “The Dream Machine”) previously owned by the Stinnetts (Ted and Sylvia) but don’t know who actually did the stretch.
Was told the price tag for the 2’ stretch was
$49,000 - hoping that included the special paint job also, but don’t know for sure!
Mike/The Corvair a holic
Down from 5 coaches to 3 and headed for 2 keepers!
