Anyone have any experience with the Elkhart Holding Tanks? The Ardemco GMC-1 tank (30 gal nominal), delivered to my business address in Baltimore is $550. Elkhart makes a shallow, 29 gallon tank that will fit, but will require I fabricate a 1 1/2 inch offset for the discharge because, at 57", it is too wide to mount exactly on the coach center-line. The Elkhart tank is $192 delivered to my door. Rick at Ardemco cautioned me about Elkhart quality, tank thickness, etc. $350 difference is difficult to ignore. I intend to go with a blank tank, then template and install Uniseal tank top fittings after a dry-fit-up. Also, the Elkhart tank has mounting flanges on the long sides of the tank that would allow me to bolt it up directly instead of supported across the bottom.

One can do anything to your liking, however I feel it is more beneficial to
do as majority does as they work.
We provide technical advise along with other suppliers that are technically
qualified.

I went with the Ardemco. Not happy with capacity, but what other choice does a person have??
I was very happy with the fit, it fit perfectly. I did not had to drill, or glue anything to make it work. everything lined up.
it was not the cost of the tank that sucks, it is the shipping charge.
Looks like over 4 years ago:

James,
I've had no experience with the "Elkhart tank", but I'm automatically
concerned about the idea of mounting ANY tank merely by its flanges. IMHO,
that's begging for catastrophe. Especially when there's some question
about the structural integrity (thickness) of the tank. Remember that 29
gallons of water weigh 240 lbs. The straps can't be very difficult to add.

Asked and answered. Ardemco tank ordered and will ship tomorrow. Thank you all for the input. And Ken, I will fabricate new straps. Somewhere along the way, the OEM tank and support hardware on the coach were changed out. My damaged/leaking tank was supported by a combination of structural channel and flat stock, welded up in an assembly that deformed the tank bottom, eliminating most of the contour/fall to the discharge point.
