I think there have been two or three changes since FiTech first released the FCC. We think of it only in terms of our GMCs, but the applications are across virtually every vehicle that originally used a carb.
As I recall the changes had to do with the valve that acts like a float valve in a carb, the vacuum controlled valve that controls fuel return or vapor pressure release, and the way the CPU controls the output of the high pressure pump. With the original version I would once in a while find that hot restart was hampered by the high pressure pump not flowing properly. I don’t know what they did, but later versions appear to have addressed that issue.
In our unique application, some (like Bounds) just use a frame mounted high pressure pump and a return line from the fuel rail to the fuel filler tube. Lots of options. Doing it again on a GMC (which would be the very first mod I would do) I would use one low pressure Carter electric fuel pump with check valves on each tank teed to feed the FCC and put in a return line from the FCC to the fuel filler tube and block off the mechanical fuel pump. Big issue is to make sure you use an electrical-on signal taken from a place that is live both with the key on AND while the starter motor is engaged.
With the front mounted FCC I never again saw any vapor lock symptoms.

Didn't FiTech change either the FCC or the mounting directions for it?
