Keith,
The real issue causing most of the Blower Relay failure and high heat on the terminals is caused by the motor pulling high amps while. It should be drawing right around 10 amps max running on high. The one that you show in the picture is 20 years old and appears to have been changed from the OEM unit. What happens with then blowers is that they have oil impregnated bronze bearing and they dry out and increase the current draw to run the motor over time.
I went thru several of the AR109 relays and burnt wiring the first few years that we owned our first coach (1998 thru about 2004). Found that the motor was not spinning freely.
Long story short - Replace the blower motor, ( AutoZone Part# PM109) and you should never again burned up a relay or wiring. You are not the first to have this issue, I was working with another GMC’er last week with the same problem. As far as we could tell it was an OEM unit. This was and still is a problem for our coaches. Note on the PM109 motor you have to remove the squirrel cage and mount it on the new motor. Not difficult to remove.
