As we battle through another hot summer of heavy use and stop and go driving, whenever there's a problem it seems like we are off the road for weeks if not months at a time. I am thinking I would like to have a backup engine built up, as bulletproof as possible, sitting on a pallet ready to go if needed.
Any folks in the southeast with leads on potential engines? First choice would be someone with an extra fresh engine they would be willing to sell. Second choice would be a good rebuildable core. I have a second engine in another coach, but it's been rebuilt once already and I don't have a great deal of confidence it.
If we have to have the engine built, I would appreciate any suggestions on a shop or person to do the work within short days drive of Atlanta.
Thanks much!

I'd send the 'no confidence' one to John Beavers in Americus and tell him give you a call when it'sdone. When you get a chance install it and pickle the one you have now for backup.
You do Friday Food Truck up here at the canoe venue?

Thanks Johnny, that seem like a good plan, could probably get in put in over Christmas. Not sure how much play that block has in it. Think it was an old 425 that has been bored at least once, and maybe more. But hopefully John B can steer me right on that.
So the one that is in the truck now, had the bottom end done at the Coop 2 winters ago. The shop it's at now just did the heads and a fresh stock intake. Going to pick it up tomorrow, so we'll see what we have. Still think one done right top to bottom is what I want.

Also not sure about the Food truck night at the Canoe. Is that in Braselton. We have done the monthly one in Suwanee a few times, but had to cancel the last one we were scheduled for. Have certainly been up in that part of Ga on more than a few occasions.

Sounds like a fun event. Probably not an easy ride on Fri afternoon from Sandy Springs. Saturday morning is likely way better.
