Since I'm going to have to put the closet area back together. The 110V to 12VDC buzz box isn't going back in. Going modern. Then install some USB ports up front, and in the back area. Maybe some 12V utility plugs next to the USB's. Next some 110V plugs front/rear that are powered off of a 12V to 110V invertor. We did this to our 78 Royale. Have 6 of these 110V invertor powered plugs front to rear. It's just nice to have 110V without the Gen,or shore power. I said that I was going to make this GMC a great coach to sell. Bob Dunahugh

Bob,

I installed 8 of these throughout the coach:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ACD3FS8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They provide the 12v and 5v connections i need off of the 12v light feed
ran through the roof wiring channels. Powers cell phones, tablets, fans,
the TV, etc. The conversion to LED bulbs limited the amperage draw
concerns, and the wire is plenty beefy. My only complaint is the blue LED
light on each. They're BRIGHT! A little dab of black paint brought the
brightness to a level i could deal with.

We also have a 12vdc -120vac invertor. To be fair, we havnt used it once.
Its there if we need it, but i'll bet you i never take it out of the box

Cant wait to see what you build!

-Will

I prefer the "built-in" look - so I installed something like these front & back:

https://www.amazon.com/Electop-Charger-Cigarette-Function-Motorcycle/dp/B077MC3L3B/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

At night - I close the plug cover to deal with the bright LED.

My 12V TV plugs into the "cigarette" style plug and my Raspberry Pi based media player plugs into the USB. We usually use it in the back, but can easily move up near the front dinette, when desired.

i installed one on the ends of the upper cabinets facing down... basically
exactly where the upper cabinet meets the wiring channel. I have one just
behind and above the shoulder of driver and passenger, and one on each side
in the far rear, at the back of the upper cabinets. I also installed one
inside the cabinets at the center divider. I even have one in the hot water
compartment below the sync. It charges my toothbrush. =)

We are on our first longer trip with the 23' from North Germany towards Croatia and the last 4 days haven't seen a campground. We have 200Ah LiFePo4 battery connected to Mulitplus Charger/Inverter with 2000W sustained sine wave 240V. Each morning we run our coffee maker and a water heater for the tea. Takes roughly 20% out of the battery. Over the day, the battery gets recharged by the alternator, and sometime over the day we are back at 100%. No need for shore power, no need for solar, as long as we go places.

When we arrive in Croatia, we will very likely end up on a camp ground with shore power, so that will give us what we need.

Just a note,
Most of the 120v-5v and 12v-5V power sources draw constant power so make sure they are on switched power so you don't kill your batteries accidentally.

(I see Bob put them on the light switch, that works, but what if you want to plug your phone in in the dark while sleeping or something?)

You replae the switch with a double switch.
