How about the bogie arms; they get bent and/or twisted too. Don't ask me how I know that, please.

Bob, you can press them out with a plate presser. Several folks have made them I got one from another GMCer. I can send it to you in a USPS small flat rate box if there isn't one closer.
It's a nut welded over a hole in the center of a half inch plate. The plate has holes bored which line up with the holes for the backing plate. Thread those holes from the rear, bolt the plate firmly to the back of the bogie arm, then run a bolt through the welded nut in the center. Get down on it with your impact wrench and out comes the spindle.

The manual shows a tool for that. I made one from a piece of 1" thick
steel. Drilled 4 matching holes on the corners, and one large hole in the
center. I welded a nut to the plate, because I did not have a tap that big.
But, the center hole could be tapped to match a large 3/4" nf bolt.
Tap the 4 corner holes in the bogies, bolt the plate to the back of
the bogie, tighten up the big center bolt, and whail away on the side of
the bogie. If you are going to scrap the bogies, use a torch on them. Goes
without saying, use lots of your favorite penetrating oil. Be patient.
Some have used a big, high quality air slugger with success.
Manny uses an enormous pipe wrench on the spindle and brute strength,
but he is as strong as a bull.
There is no way to support those bogies in a press. I know, I spent
the better part of a day trying to kill myself by having bogie assemblies
fly out of the press bed under load.
