The gal who bought my 73-23 Glacier out of Santa Cruz, Ca. has started to
experience dieseling when shutting down. She has had to pull it into gear on
occasion to get it to quit. She did not experience that before putting it
into a 6 month storage outside last winter.

Thoughts please.

Cheap gas will do that. Maybe put some high grade in for a while.
Check timing.

Dean,

I bet it is like my 73-23 Glacier....
The idle is set too high. At least that cured mine.

put in premium gas if that sols the problem, and it did mine, run higher octane gas and or adjust the timing.

i usually alternate 87 and 93 about every half tank and no running on.

Turn it off in gear Then shift to Park.
This will do it until the problem is solved.

Set the idle properly. Low.
Don't blame gas.

Also look at the automatic choke. It might be stuck up one notch on the fast idle cam.

My newly rebuilt 455 with a remanufactured carb had a dieseling problem. I set the idle as low as possible and reset the timing +/- a couple of degrees. To no avail. On the advice of JimB I switched to non-ethanol fuel. Problem solved.
