Hi Peer,
I have to assume there are EU manufacturers who make something similar given all the commercial and recreational boating activities in many countries there. Perhaps contacting the company and asking for a list of EU distributors would locate a supplier closer to you.

Thanks guys for the heads up - now I just need to convince the seller to find someone who doesn't charge three times the products price for shipping
to Germany. Maybe Parcel Monkey will come to the rescue. I'll keep you posted.

already asked for an EU distributor. They are in talks, but don't have anything atm. I'll check if something similar is available locally, but my hopes aren't too high.

Oliver,
Have you looked into buying it on eBay from a US seller? eBay has set up a program that uses a shipping consolidator to keep international shipping costs down. Far cheaper than standard shipping. Caveat, not all sellers will sell overseas. Good luck.
