I've heard for decades on how hard it is the get that brake cable out. Here's an extremely simple way to get it out. Get a 3/8" screw hose clamp. Put it around the brake cable housing. About 3/16" from the inside of the backing plate. Over the fingers that hold it in place. Screw the screw type hose down till the fingers are all folded in. Push the cable the 3/16" out the back of the backing plate till the hose clamp comes in contact with the backing plate. While pushing out on the cable. Remove hose clamp. Done with no damage to the cable. DONE. Bob Dunahugh
