Does anyone have a comprehensive parts list for a full rear brake rebuild?
Shoes, wheel cylinders, springs. What am I missing?
I'd like to get it all at once instead of pulling it apart and then ordering parts.

I'll bet Jim K would be happy to fix you up with a complete kit.

I ended up buying all from sirum gmc when i did mine. There is some change mid production and a recall i think that confused some numbers as well as manufacture number not crossing exactly to what was available at time. I paid a little more, but was not much. He sent me everything, spring kits, shoes, lines, cylinders.

You need to buy rear lines from a vender, so was paying some shipping. I never found all parts in one location other then vender. This was a few years ago now. Start oiling the fittings today.

I got the spring kits from Jimmy the K. cylinders and shoes locally. However, to do it again, I'd email for a price for everything and just buy it all from Applied. You'll have shipping costs, but they will be for everything that fits correctly. I'd have him add seals, and if you haven't already, correct bearings.

If your time has any value, it ain't worth chasing stuff and returning half of it at Advance till you get the correct stuff.

Agreed Johnny,
I love that Jim has everything but it really bothers me knowing I'm paying double plus shipping for things like wheel cylinders

Well, I'm currently billing $850 a day when I choose to work. An hour fiddling about at Advance and Jimmy the K was cheaper and a lot less hassle. Bulky stuff I try to get locally or have picked up by someone coming this way because the shipping gets high.I can't buy riveted shoes for $25 an axle locally anyway. One pays one's mopney and one takes one's chierce Smile

Agreed, And that ultimately probably what I'll do. I was just hoping for a list of "buy these part numbers on amazon" because I'm cheap Very Happy

Justin,
I have a hard time seeing your paying double, unless youre figuring in
freight.
When you see how much time we spend on the phone to assist fellow GMC MH
owners, then you will see why they are where they are.
Our main profit center is our AIR Filter Housing division. there we earn
the big margin.
Making parts available for these coaches keep the value of them up and
parts suppliers making them.

Jim,
I know I mean absolutely no disrespect (i just placed 2 orders with you guys for other stuff last night actually) , but wheel cylinders are 5.50 or so on rock auto and 12.50 with you guys.
I don't particularly care about the 12 bucks difference other than it just bothers my inner cheap-ass Very Happy

send me over a quote for all the stuff I need for all 4 rear wheels if you have a chance, no rush! I would have just ordered it from you guys the other day when I placed the other order but I didn't know what all I needed.

Were not dummies here and we do purchase from thes outfits, but find that
they are lot of times trying to clear the slow movers so there is no way we
can get close to there price.
I'll have Gary and Nick check that out.
We are a Automotive parts store, so we pull our inventory from major
Warehouse distributors.
I will have Nick /Gary pull your order and meet with me.

Jim.

Just a suggestion as this comes up often. You should package a brake kit. Price out a complete kit, with and without bearings/grease seals included for the 4 drums. I will bet people will click and buy. Piece meal each part and the markup of each piece x 4 adds up.

I love those kinds of kits. “Do it once, do it all, do it right!” A vendor could even add in a tool rental as an additional plus.

1978 Transmode near Pittsburgh that will need a lot of kits.

I'll meet with Nick and Gary on doing a kit.
I appreciate the input as I'm not much of a creater.
Thank you all for the input.

I have an Amazon list calls GMC replacement parts that I save stuff to as I come across them. That way when I need a replacement I have a handy reference. One example, Honda EV 6010 starter. $129 Amazon, $500 from Honda. As people post parts that they have found to work, I save them to that list. JWID. Also works for calling the local parts house.

If you have a problem with what Rock sends you, there is no human to call. If you have a problem with what you get ftom Jim (it can happen) you can talk to him and he will probably make you laugh or at least smile and you can' t put a price on that. And make it right and usually cover shipping based on my experience.
