Bob, that 1/2 " rubber hose that goes to the filler neck is a "burp" back
hose that serves to cancel the gas station filler nozzle when the tanks
near the full level. No reason why you cannot put your fuel return line
there. I usually drill and tap the filler pipe and use a threaded hose barb
that matches the return line size. I have used that a number of times. Some
here have picked places that were more suited to putting the return fuel
into one tank or the other for reasons more suited to their preferences of
using one tank or the other. Pays yer money, and takes yer choice, I guess.
More important to be properly supported and leak free I would think.
