Bob Drews says it's possible to replace the CV boot without removing the axle, I don't see it, my axle won't come out of the CV joint, it ALMOST come out but the inner bottoms out ( yes I released the C Clip! )
I really don't want to remove the inner flange with it's unobtainium bolts right before a trip tomorrow.
Any Ideas?

Keith,
Try turning the steering wheel to the full lock position to the right and see if it will come out, if it does not come out then turn
it to the full lock position to the left and try again.
In my opinion you can use the bolts again coat them with blue Locktite.

Jim,
If Keith removes both ends of the shock absorber won't the torsion bars force the lower control arms downwards?

Yes. And that provides just enough room to allow the stub axle to clear the
knuckle/hub assy. Me, I'd take the bolts out of the inboard joint, shove
the axle forward and up and put it in the shop vice where I could rassle
that boot into place.
Manny has a boot expansion tool that looks like a medieval torture
implement. It will expand the boot over the joint. I've seen it work, and I
still don't believe it.
Nothing about those front ends is easy. The 1 ton is much less of a
hassle. But, a trade off for some that they are unwilling to go for. To
each, his own I guess.

well none of that worked for me, I turned the wheel left, right, removed the shock, unloaded the suspension ( it was sitting on cribbing ) the axle never had enough room to come out. Turning the wheel has zero effect as the centerline of the axle is the same as that of the hub.
The only solution short of removing the locktited inner flange was the upper ball joint, break that SOB loose and it works once you release the c clip from the second ridge.
So what worked for me was:
* Remove tire
*Remove inner tie rod
*Remove shock absorber
*Cut off the boot
*Release the c clip and slide the axle inboard
*Release the upper ball joint
*Tilt hub down to free the axle
*Clean and replace the C Clip ( note that there is a missing tooth where the C Clip tangs go!
*Fold the wide end of the boot over itself to keep it clean of grease
*Push the boot onto the axle, past the band groves
*Slip the axle back into the CV joint, ensure the c-clip snaps into place
*Put the upper ball joint back into the hub and snug it up
*Grease the CV joint
*Move the boot as close to the CV Joint as possible leaving room to squirt grease in to it
*Fill the boot with grease
*Push boot up against the cv joint
*Unfold the boot over the CV joint
*Put the band clamps on
*Put everything else back together
Not that between and during each step it will be necessary to:
*Swear profusely
*Beat on things with a hammer
*Use 3-4 paper towels to clean up the grease that gets everywhere
*Swear some more
*Use Swear words you thought you forgot

Jim,
When I rebuilt the entre front suspension in The Blue Streak I had the wheels off and the coach up on jack stands. I put a floor
jack under the RHD driver side and raised the lower control up enough to take the load off the shock and then removed it. I slowly
let the floor jack down and it wound up at the 7:00 position. I repeated that exercise on the RHD passenger side and the lower
control arm wound up at the 5:00 position.

Rob, it depends how much preload is on the torsion bars. I use torsion bar
tools to unload the adjusters, then they are safe to be around. Support
under the bottom of the lower control arm also works. That way, the
indexing of the pork chop and torsion bars does not change, and you can
safely remove the fasteners without fighting them when re-assembling. Not
the only way, just my way.

Five will get you ten if you don't unload the pork chops and remove the shocks with a floor jack under the lower control arms of a
coach that has the ride height set correctly before you begin it's like I said 7:00 and 5:00.

Rob, it depends how much preload is on the torsion bars. I use torsion bar
tools to unload the adjusters, then they are safe to be around. Support
under the bottom of the lower control arm also works. That way, the
indexing of the pork chop and torsion bars does not change, and you can
safely remove the fasteners without fighting them when re-assembling. Not
the only way, just my way.

Kieth, I took off the shock and control arm, cussed, fumed, sweated, and called George Zhookoff, who showed up, moved the steering wheel, lifted the end, and it slid into place. Send him a note and ask where to turn and how much.
