Better subject line now. Cooling inside cool air will help over cooling outside hot air. When the engine is not running. Or if there's a vacuum problem in the A/C heater. The inside/outside door is in the outside air position. Pointing down. To see the door in this position. You must remove the blower motor. Or you can feel the doors position at the outside air intake. Top front of the heater box on the passenger side. At a 45 degree angle to the rear. My door got stuck in the inside air position. I made an air tight cover over the outside air intake. This info is based on the 77 to 78. I think the 75 to 76 are the same. Don't know for the 73 to 74. Can someone clarify this? '75,'76 do not have the recirc door. Fix, don't block, recirc door, The next owner might want it. Don't be 'that PO'.

Yesterday we went from Cedar Rapids Iowa to the Twin Cities Minn. a 5 hour drive. 95 degrees out. With the blocking off of the outside air to the dash A/C. 75 Degrees inside. Put a Sanden compressor with it's new hoses on last year from Jim K at Applied GMC. That absolutely ended the R-12 leaks. Next replaced all electrical A/C switches. This last Winter. I fitted all the A/C vacuum lines that the mice destroyed over the 20 years setting next to a cornfield in Iowa. Think that I may have to replace the vacuum dash control valve. So now we don't have to run the roof A/C while driving. Bob Dunahugh 78 Mouse House Royale.

These coaches were not very airtight when they were built. Add 40 years of
gravity, shake, rattle, and roll, mouse invasions, plastisizer outgassing,
etc to the mix and you get what we have. To really combat the issue
requires that we remove the interior including the dash, and reseal and
repair the failed components.
Like Bob did. Don't want to spend that level of money or time? Drive
when it is cool, run the roof air and generator, stay home. Your choice.
The late Royale coaches have the most improved a/c systems, but they cannot
even approach the efficiency of modern cars. Be ready to turn loose of some
heavy $$$$$ to totally fix the problem.
