Hello All, can you tell me what the proper name of the "channel" the body side molding slides over?
1975 Coachmen Royale, series 1 molding, the channel looks like a top hat.
I need to order some, does it even exist, if so where?
Thanks,
Mike

If you are talking about the rubber, Applied GMC has both the first and second side molding.

Dollars to donuts Jim K has some. There's a guy in Syracuse that is getting out of the business of parting out GMCs. Let me know if you want his number.
That first generation stamped stainless molding created some issues when in contact with the aluminum skin. The galvanic action would bubble the paint along the belt line.
As an alternative, some people have used some 1/8" flat aluminum stock, countersunk some holes and screwed it in place. Rubber bump strip optional.

Mike,
If you are looking for the rubber that slides into the SS moulding you can get it from:
Golby:
https://www.golbymotorcorp.com/index.php/gmc-motorhome-parts/body/exterior/moldings-emblems-misc/molding-1st-design-detail
Applied:
http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/1543
Gateway:
http://www.gmcmotorhomeparts.com/GMC_Motor_Home_Parts_specials.htm
BTW the rubber shrinks over time so when I installed it on Double Trouble I left it about 6 inches too long on the driver side an a
couple of inches to long on the passenger side. I didn't cut it to size for a year and when I did I "compressed" it as much as I
could.

Mike,
The OEM side trim consists of three pieces:
1) Stainless steel
2) Aluminum "T" shaped piece (looks something like this --|__|-- ) that the rubber slips over
3) Rubber
I would suggest you send in a request for "X" number of feet of 2) to the GMCnet to see if anyone has any that they would be willing
to send you.
Also advise the shipping address; keeping in mind that it's probably going to have to be put in a thick walled PVC pipe to keep it
from being damaged in transit and the shipping isn't going to be cheap!

Rob M.

Thanks fellows Rob, Bob & Richard for your suggestions.
I purchased the rubber from Golby, what I would like to purchase is the channel (aluminum?) the rubber molding slides over. It looks
like a top-hat design... sort of.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Rob, that's the piece #2, I'm not connected the GMCnet so I will try other routes.
If anyone else is watching and knows where I can find some please let me know?
Regards,
Mike
