Tom,

I really want to thank you for finding that pump and spreading the information. From what I read here it definitely is the item to use for any future pump replacements on both the 403 and 455. The roller bearing and the full size impeller (4.25") are the real differences of importance to me.

Well I did a lot of searching and found the following cross reference. All of these numbers a
"appear" to be the Heavy Duty variety that you want with numbers mostly ending in H or HD. There were 85 pages of vehicles that it fit and most said w/AC and heavy duty cooling. That said, I did look up the Auto Zone one and it was available by mail only. I do not want to research this any more.

If I am going to get one by mail I would order it from Jim K at Applied GMC. The price would be about the same or cheaper, and you know that you will get the correct item the first time. There is nothing wrong with Cardone Products which is what I believe he is selling.

Here is the List:

Brands: ADVANCE, ADVANCE/CARQUEST WATER PUMPS, ADVANCE/DRIVEWORKS, AIRTEX AUTOMOTIVE DIVISION, ALL PRO/FMI, ASC INDUSTRIES, ASC INDUSTRIES (FRENCH), ASC INDUSTRIES (SPANISH), AUTOZONE/ DURALAST-ASC, AUTOZONE/BOSCH, AUTOZONE/CARDONE, BOSCH, CARDONE/CARDONE SELECT, CARQUEST, CARQUEST/CARQUEST WATER PUMPS, CARQUEST/DRIVEWORKS, CARQUEST/GMB, FMI WATER PUMPS, HYTEC AUTOMOTIVE, MASTER PRO SELECT WATER PUMP, MURRAY TEMPERATURE CONTROL, NOVAPACIFIC, PARTS MASTER/ASC, PARTS MASTER/FMI, PARTS PLUS NEW WATER PUMPS, UNI-SELECT CAN/PRO SERIES WATER PUMPS, US MOTOR WORKS

Part Numbers: 20039H, 3-455HD, 347014, 51-2164, 55-21118H, 58-295H, 58-297H, 98033, AW1120H, CP1120H, CWP-455HD, NP021120H, PWP-455HD, T3086, US1120H, WP-455HD

Jim,

My point was that Tom has already done the research and posted it here. You are already stocking and selling them at a reasonable price. Why bother researching it any more. I did supply the cross reference that I found on the Internet with the information he wanted.

Easy. Because I already have a flow kooler pump on my coach that I am happy with, and I'd like to know if it would be prudent to replace it when I install the new fan setup. I asked about other pumps in case someone else is in the same boat with another brand pump....

BTW, I sat on hold myself with flow kooler customer service, and they finally said they would find out and get back to me. When they did, the girl told me it was a "roller/ball bearing". When I asked her to clarify, she basically said that was the best she could find out.

Researching further, at least in flow kooler's case, their business model is to buy a "quality" pump (whatever that means) then replace the supplied impeller with their own impeller. The flow kooler pump I have was stamped GMB. I'll try GMB to see if they have any info on the bearings.

Mark,

If you are not going to tear into the cooling system or FEAD, leave it alone until you feel like it.
If you can get a macro of the end of the pump shaft, it might have the bearing maker's part number. If it does, that may tell us.
I bought the Cardone pump because it was real convenient to change now. The rest of the engine is in little boxes and neat piles in my barn so changing a water pump is just not an issue.

Thanks for the advice, Matt and good idea on the macro. Going to give that a shot when I install the fan.

Resurrecting this thread from last Spring.....

I have not been able to find the Cardone Select 55-21118H water pump in stock from any supplier. Cardone customer service tells me that they won't make any more until they get cores, but when I spoke to their R&R department I found out that they can rebuild my existing water pump to the 55-21118H specs if I tell them (or NAPA) to have it rebuilt to 58-297-H specs, which consists of a gasket and the roller/ball bearings.

Does this make sense to the water pump experts out there?

Yes and no. There are several differences in the cores out there and so that spec may or may not work depending on your core.

On the Cardone 55-21118H pump, it is a NEW pump, (not a rebuilt) and as such does not use an old core for parts. That does not help you much because Cardome does not appear to be making them right now. Every place I tried online says they are out of stock EXCEPT Pep Boys. So you might want to try them:

When I ordered mine from Summit the first part of August 2018. it showed it to be out of stock and would ship in like 2 weeks. shortly after that the date switched out to mid sept. then it dropped back a few weeks, and I finally did receive mine at the end of August the week before I installed it.

Dolph will have to let us know if his waterpump shows up.

When I was looking, I had hoped for this A-1 Cardone pump, and I was really happy with it when it showed up. Seemed like a solid looking pump, ect... I was ready to pull the trigger on a milodon aluminum pump when it looked like the a-1 was not going to show up in time, at 3x the cost. even though some of the others out there probably would work just fine, I still did not like the looks of the rebuilt one's from o'reilies and autozone.

In my search, I've discovered...
- Baxter can't find the Cardone Pump part number in their database.
- Pep Boys does not actually have them in stock, once you call a store.
- Summit shows 2/4 availability, but by phone does not know when they'll receive them to ship.
- Cardone does not know when they'll receive them to ship, suggested I call a dealer to see if they have one in stock.
- Advance, one of Cardone's dealers, told me via Customer Assistance that Carquest (now owned by Advance) sells this pump under part number #T3086 and that they take it out of the Cardone box and put it into a Carquest box.
- A local Carquest store found two in stock at their Portland warehouse and has ordered one for me. $44.98.
- Once it comes it, I need to verify that it's really the Cardone pump. Any suggestions?

I believe with Pep Boys you order online and ship it to the store. For a low volume item like this it would cost them a fortune to keep one in stock at every store.

What do I know. I never ordered one from them. I just saw that they said they had it in stock where Rock Auto and Summit had it on back order.

Did anyone ever think to call Jim K. at Applied? He was stocking it unless he is currently sold out.

I have one of the carquest ones new in the box, but I can't see anything
that indicates it was build by cardone, anyway to check?
