Jim,
When I mentioned how loose the timing chain of my engine was, you suggested that I look at the plug in the block face that is suppose to oil that.
Well, I unscrewed it and could not see though it. One little chip of carbon came out.
During my search for replacement valves, I am also going to work up a plan to put a crud catcher in that squirter. I don't currently have any idea what it is going to be, but I have lots of strange stuff to choose from. Very fine steel screen might be good. Like the stainer for a paint spray gun. I really don't know, but I can afford to do a lot of thinking.

I think that hole is around .023". Does not take much of a particle to plug
it. All the more reason for frequent oil and filter changes, and very
thorough warm ups and frequent use. Never thought about a screen or filter
there, but might be a good thing. Oil furnaces used to have a sintered
bronze filter on the injector nozzles that had threads and were just about
the right size for that plug with a bit of fiddling. Might look at that.
Sundstrand is a name that comes to mind.
