Buenas Dias, Amigos and Amigas
How are you getting your short term Mexican auto insurance, now-a-days?
We're going to be inYuma for a while for dental work in Los Algodones,
and will need to drive the car across the border. Linda's Sister-in-law
can't walk long enough to cross the border on foot, so we'll need the
car, and the insurance.

Depends on your current insurance carrier. If your talking about a passenger car. A lot of standard line policies cover 25-50 miles into the country. Standard lines meaning non high risk.
As for the GMC I would call and check, it depends on what type of policy you have on that and its normal coverage territory. Apples and oranges between cars and TZEs.
You can look at your current policy and there should be a specific section entitled coverage territory. This specifically spells out WHERE your are covered. Or call your current agent to inquire. You also need to know ahead of time if there are any exclusions which apply in Mexico. For Example they carrier may cover liability if you hit anything, but not cover theft. Best to ask first.
Depending on where in Mexico there may be a Mexican licensed insurer who will sell you a policy. Different states in Mexico have different arrangements, so you may need to call someone there.
