The toilet I put in 22 years ago is failing and it looks like there are other options now. I really like the ceramic bowl we have but it looks like there are ball valves now as opposed to the blade type we have now.
Opinions on which type and brands that people like. Way too many choices and sales people don t seem to have a clue.
Thanks for any observations you would like to share.
STILL LOVE THE GMC!

Dometic and Therford make excellent toilets for the GMC. For some reason, the Dometic is much cheaper. Since I have one of each (two rv's) you really cannot tell the difference in comfort and operation. I put a Dometic in the GMC, nd it really was plug and play. I believe that I used a model 300, but that was 4 years ago.
I had a friend who wanted a new toilet for his GMC. I let his wife try both for comfort. He bought the Dometic.

Just put in a dometic 310 foot flush. Replaced an original therford. Had to move the two flange bolts from 11 and 4 to 3 and 9 o'clock. but not a big deal. Plug and play for everything else. I like that this one has a China bowl and standard house type bolts to the floor that you can access pretty easy. 110 bucks or so with a free ride from Amazon.
This was the low model as the rear bath royale has a riser back there.

Jim what does the spray function do?
Mine I step on the pedal it opens the slider valve and then it swirls water down the sides.
Is there a separate hand sprayer?

The lesser priced units have the pedal that look like a weird arm. Prefer
the front floor pedal as it looks stylish.

Lots of options out there, I was looking at camping world on line. It looks like the uglier ones with with the lever on the side are ball valve and the front flush models are slide valve like my dead one. Still not sure which type is better.
Thanks all for the information.

Just a FYI
Dometic does own Sealand .... the 510 is still available and widely used... Dometic has now come out with their 300 series models that are very well built for the gmc..
the 310 is a std round porcelain bowl while the 320 is a enlonged bowl like your homes, in fact the same seats from Home Depot / lowes / etc can be fitted on the 320.. also they are available in shorts 13" or talls 18" with or without hand sprayers....

In the boating world, I believe that ball valves are MUCH preferred over gate valves.

Rob, those are also called 'skid marks'. I use the fuill pedal to run some water in the bowl to reduce them.

The ball valves (a rotating ball) instead of a slide does seem to work better. AND it is available with a front flush pedal. I replaced mine a couple of years ago with a new Thetford porcelain bowl one. It came in both the low and high models.
I used to have a low model with the Thetford adapter to make it higher so I bought the high model and it works great.
Thetford makes a couple of different models in porcelain with the front pedal. The cheaper one has a slide valve.

Since were a dealer for all RV parts, were constantly forced to know
various options that the public does not made aware of.
Also you need to know that my experience with RV goes back to the 1960 .
