I noted last trip the radiator level was shrinking a pint or so from top full. A bit of examination showed cracks in the hose going to the overflow container from the radiator. So, replace it with new hose. Couple of clamps, maybe fifteen minutes, no? No. So far I'm an hour and a half into the job, the rain ran me inside, and the hose isn't on yet. However, the clamp which fell from the nipple on the radiator fill down between the passenger side header tank and the radiator frame has been removed. They're cheap, why not just leave it? Normally I would, but a stainless clamp will eventually wedge between one of the protrusions and the header tank, and quickly wear a hole in the tank. It only took an hour to get the bolts out so the frame could be moved to the outside a bit. A satisfying clatter and the offending clamp was dropped to the bottom of the frame and easily removed. Another half hour and I have one bolt and two sheet metal screws to replace and she's ready for the new hose. Which will be applied and THEN the loose clamp slipped into place. The lesson: ALWAYS put something under what you're working on to keep it out of inaccessible places.
